Schools for would-be Joscelins and Jia Weis.
THE STRAITS TIMES SATURDAY JULY29, 2006

after reading this interesting article, I felt that it is nothing great about being a student in a sports schools. This is because they are only let out on Friday night and have to book in on Sunday night. This felt more like an army camp rather than a school. However this caused the students there to be very discipline. One said that discipline is a must if you want to be a good sportsman, so is making and cleaning your bed. I was amazed as many secondary students are still living in a protected environment under their parents' wings.
there is something in which I felt that these students can never be like those studying in a normal school where the importance for sports and academic are equal. The students are so used to being cheered on that they do not know how to cheer for others. The councilors of the sports school have to improvise cheers on plastic cards to rally 80 students sitting on the stand. Yet they just barely whimpered compared to the vociferous ACS boys and the RI boys.
