Mad about fitness
Saturday march 25, 2006
Singaporeans are no longer slouches when it comes to sports. One out of two - or 2,784,900 people - have lifted themselves off the couch to embrace an active lifestyle, according to a Singapore sports council survey released on Wednesday. I am proud of Singaporeans as they will no longer be classified as the laziest people among the Asia countries. Whoever had started the fitness craze must be named and praised. To me, this is indeed an excellent idea as Singaporeans are also known as the people who slogged and when they go home they become potato couches! Moreover I feel that this is a time whereby many fitness centers will start to compete in terms of prices and gimmicks.

He kept wife in the dark till victims came knocking

Richard Lee, a property agent, had piled up huge soccer betting debts. To raise money to repay them, he offered some acquaintance and former clients a way to get rich quick - a buy low sell high scheme on a property in which profits will be split among them.
I pity Mrs Lee as she has 2 young kids to look after. After what her husband did, she will cause all her clients to lose confidence in her as her husband had already tainted the reputation. Now that the breadwinner has been sent to jail, she will then has to feud for herself, her two kids and a maid. How is she going to cope? In this kind of situation, I feel that the government should step in as this kind of cases is normal. The problem lies in how the family is going to survive for seven long years without a proper income?

India makes offer of peace treaty to Pakistan
Saturday march 25,2006
INDIA moved to bury six decades of animosity with Parkistan yesterday calling for the nuclear neighbours to join in a "treaty of peace, security and friendship." In the article itself, India had praise Pakistani president proves Musharraf's battle against terrorism. For the welfare of India and Pakistan, Dr singh also suggested that improvement need to be made for the interest for India and Pakistan. I feel that India had made a brilliant move into calling for friendship pact with Pakistan. This way they can join forces and counter terrorism. Dr singh who was born in what is now Pakistan, knows how to handle such problems. This is because he was able to speak Punjabi, a language understood just as clearly as the borders, was able to evoke emotions. He was able to share common vision and objective of eradicating poverty, ignorance and disease. This actually made him a better politician as he was able to understand the needs of the people.

How the Internet Killed the Phone Business
The Economist Magazine
September 17th 2005

Currently, there is a software that threatens to override traditional telephones, and it is called “voice over internet protocol” which is a software that allows people to make free calls to other users using the similar program, for free, over the internet, and very cheap calls to traditional telephones. I feel that this is a brilliant idea, as it allows people to stay connected in a much cheaper way. It brings friends living in different countries closer together, as they would be able to have a live conversation, without paying phone bills. However, there is a negative side to this. I feel that this new “voice over internet protocol” technology would disrupt and undermine incumbent telephone operators. However, in conclusion, I would have to stick with the benefits of using VOIP as it seems to be more practical and worth while for the end user.

THREE IN FIVE SUSPECTS OFFERED BAIL CAN'T AFFORD IT The straits times monday march 13 pg4

Many lawyers claim that the bail amounts are set too high for the suspects to pay , as statistics show, last year, 5300 out of 13300 people offere bail could afford it , while the others could not afford the high prices of the bails, in my point of view , i find it ridiculous to have bails at such high prices , as i see no point to it, the susoects if found guilty would spent their time in jail which is good enough ,they dont need to become bankrupt at the same time. therefore i think that it is unnecessary to have such high bails in Singapore

Anti -Chen march draws 30,000
The straits Times
Monday march 13, 2006
TENS of thousands of opposition supporters marched though down town Taipei yesterday to protest President Chen Shui Bian's tough line on China. The people felt that they were being neglected while the representatives continued to battle against China. Personally I feel that Mr Chen should NOT be indecisive. It was because of his indecisive actions, caused the locals to suffer in terms of their livelihood and day-to-day problems. I strongly feel that he was being very irresponsible as he only cared about going against China and probably some personal reasons. Moreover I feel that this ugly incident reflect badly on the way Mr Chen handled Taiwan. Nevertheless I must still give him credit for trying to make Taiwan independent.

Mardan makes golf history on home ground
Monday march 13, 2006
The Strait Times

The first thing that i saw when i woke up was this newspaper article. I was overjoyed by the fact that someone who is a true blue Singaporean has won a golf tounament, brought glory and fame to singapore, unlike those people who the singapore government recruit from China and other South East Asia countries. Honestly i feel that recruiting people from other countries could invite lots of unnecessary gossips, comments and stares. The reason why singapore wanted to recruit foreign talents so that they could win trophies for us as they felt that Singaporeans are incompetent. However this article has proven my point. Singaporeans can do it too!

The Strait Times
After reading this article, i was amazed by the level of technolongy that singapore had acheived. I have learnt something. Although we are of a small country but that does not show that we are lagging behind other people - country. From a personal point of view i feel that this acheivement has greatly booast Singapore confidence level. This can be seen through various aspects. Over the years, many rich and affluence people had travelled all the way to Singapore for medical treatment. This is because they have complet trust in Singapore's level of technology in terms of medical aspects.
